BACKGROUND
The APDG Awards is an annual event first held in 2011. It gathers together a myriad of talents and associated professionals from the Australian film, television, stage and interactive multimedia industries to celebrate the art of visually captivating audiences the world over.
Our inaugural awards event was a huge success, enhanced by the gracious presence of our MC for the evening, Australian film icon, Margaret Pomeranz. Held at NIDA in Sydney, 16 awards, 6 APDG accreditations and 25 certificates of high commendation were awarded to entrants across 15 categories.
Highlights of the presentation include the awarding of the Cameron Creswell Award for Outstanding Contribution to Design to Oscar nominee and multi AFI award winner, Roger Ford, and the presenting of the Wacom Award for Game Design to Simon Wood for L.A. NOIRE, its ground breaking technology and detail in the design has no doubt raised the bar on game design for years to come. After the formal presentations, the audience of designers, affiliated professionals and sponsors continued celebrating, catching up with old fiends and making new ones. There hasn’t been such an assembly of stage and screen design talent in a long time.
